The Oil Barons Charity Ball

The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference is proud to present The Oil Barons Charity Ball.

Held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, The Oil Barons Charity Ball brings together the region’s VIPs and key industry figures for a glamorous evening of networking and community giving.

The ball has been a meeting point for the energy industry over the past twelve years, raising over $2.3 million for charity and awarding the title of “Oil Baron” to an individual who has made a significant impact in the industry and local community.

Guests enjoy a silver service, fine dining experience, world-class entertainment and exclusive opportunity to secure some of the most sought-after items in the live and silent auctions. In previous years, guests have been wowed by the likes of Heather Small, award winning lead singer of M People, and platinum selling soul artist Beverly Knight.

More than $200,000 was pledged for Friends of Cancer Patients through substantial donations raised during the 12th Oil Barons Charity Ball on Friday 6th March 2015.

In a heartfelt speech, patron of the event, H.E Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, commended the continuous generosity of the oil and gas community and emphasized the difference it makes in the lives of the country’s cancer patients.

Tom Urquhart of Dubai One led the evening’s proceedings as guests enjoyed five-star, silver service dining and entertainment. The much-anticipated announcement of the Oil Baron saw Dr Ali Saeed Al Ameri, Chairman and CEO of the oilfield supply and services company, Al Shoumoukh Group, crowned on the night. The highly coveted status is awarded to an individual within the industry who has demonstrated a genuine commitment to corporate social responsibility and made a real impact in the region.

In an exhilarating Live Auction, guests bid on money-can’t-buy auction items and once-in-a-lifetime experiences, all in aid of the charity. With a fundraising total to be proud of, guests were treated to first class live entertainment including spectacular performances from Heather Small, award-winning lead singer of M People; soul singer Jae Franklin; Dubai’s reputed band, The Maplejacks and the wonderful DJ Cuppy, who led the celebrations late into the evening.

“Every year, I am deeply heartened by the on-going generosity and support shown at the Oil Barons Charity Ball, and I would like to sincerely thank the patron, donors, and sponsors of this important event."
Ameera Binkaram, President of the Board of Trustees, and Founding Member, Friends of Cancer Patients
